What wedding shoes shall i choose??
Ok so my New Years resolution was to blog more, or even at all has got off to a bad start considering it’s March already & this is the first post I’m getting around to doing
(watch this space for some posts about past weddings at some stunning Hampshire wedding venues)
Right some of you may know me, but I’m guessing most of you don’t, so if you’d like to you can read my ‘About’ page on my homepage to find out my back ground as a wedding photographer but this post is all about one of my biggest passions…… nope not wedding Photography, nope not my love of peas, nor my love for Jack Russells (or any breed of dog for that matter)… but for my LOVE of shoes!
I’ve always loved shoes, dressing up & prancing around in any high heels my mum had, I remember mum taking me to shoefair in portswood & I got my first pair of ‘clip clop’ shoes they were to be my best shoes, they were black with a pretty lattice of elastic on the front – I loved them but they rubbed my feet so bad – little did I know at that young age that I’d be happy to put up with a few blisters just to have the prettiest or funkiest shoes on my feet when I was grown up
Fast forward to 2013 – by this point I already had a huge collection of shoes ranging from cheapest primark to mid-range designers irregular choice – my first obtainable designer shoes (half my student loan at uni went on those!) right up to iconic Louboutins
Aaron (my now hubby) was taking me to New York & I’d saved up so I could go to Manolo Blahnik & buy a pair of the amazing shoes!!!
The holiday was amazing & it got even better when Aaron popped the question in Central Park (by the Boat House) so from about the spring of 2013 I was in full
Wedding mode!
Now obviously we sorted the big things very quickly but my biggest dilemma was well what shoes will I wear!? I love so may & for different reasons, my huge collection ranges from weird & wonderful to timeless & elegant.
I just couldn’t have just 1 pair, could I?
So I decided to browse the Internet for inspiration… here are some below
Oh those Kate Spade bow heeled pumps & Emmy shoes!!
& more recent search results….
I had to wear a pair of Jimmy Choos down the aisle I just had to! It was what i had always said to my mum I wanted to get married in a pair of Jimmy Choos shoes…. so I did
I couldn’t neglect the ICs so I picked these beauties – Pearl is my birthstone too
A green pair these are Zara with a shoe brooches attached that I bought from Etsy – they were my take on the iconic ‘something blue’ shoes that Carrie wore to marry big in SATC (I so wanted them but they were sooo expensive – I would still love to own these shoes & hopefully one day I will) but for my wedding I had these my own take on them & in green – pea green to tie in with my wedding theme (we go together like peas & carrots – boho weddings archive if you want a nosey;)
Pink hunter wellies – well I got married on a farm so it made sense 🙂
Harriet Wilde – these were my mums fault – she was casually looking through a bridal magazine & found the most amazingly intricate metal detailing on these shoes “oh lou look at these, they are amazing! Oh you should look to see how much they are they are so beautiful” safe to say I just had to have them!
My final pair (white pointed stilettos from Office) are probably one of my favourite pairs I own as they were hand painted by my amazingly talented friend Samual Baker (he owns a lovely tea rooms called The Garden Society Southampton – if you ever fancy some lovely food, a spot of shopping – he stocks the most beautiful things & also runs some fantastic events throughout the year! Check it out if you’re local) anyway – sorry I know I’m waffling! I had seen personalised painted shoes on Pinterest & most seemed to be based in America so I asked Sam, I think he was pretty nervous as he had never done anything like it before, but oh my just look he did! He did not disappoint I didn’t actually wear this pair properly on my wedding as I was to scared they would get ruined but every so often even now I just get them out to admire them
Anyway – here’s an insight to my shoe obsession – particularly my wedding shoes obsession ha ha! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and do hit me up with other ideas for a blog post & any comments on your chosen shoes for your big day 🙂
xoxo
