Ellen & Josh’s Sopley Mill Wedding

It’s taken me ages to blog this wedding (well any wedding if i’m honest, but i’m going to try and make extra time to post this year!)

21st June – the longest day of the year & also my own Wedding Anniversary, made this wedding that little bit extra special for me & oh what a wedding it was!! Sooo gorgeous – Ellen made the most STUNNING Bride, the styling, flowers, bridesmaids & grooms men all made this so much fun to shoot – definitely a favourite that i’ll remember for many years to come!
The day started with myself & my assistant Charis heading to the Lord Bute Hotel for the bridal preparations – it was a gloriously sunny morning – Ellen had already done her own Make-up while her friend Lee-Ann her eye make up. Crystal Goulding-Smith did an amazing job on all the ladies wedding hair – simply gorgeous tousled hair & braids.

We then made our way to the boys who were already waiting at the venue there was a huge buzz of excitement in the air it was such a great atmosphere as guests arrived and finishing touches were made. The decor & styling was AMAZING! DIY mixed with bought, borrowed & vintage items made for such a rustic & beautiful look.

Ellen’s Bridesmaids walked into the room first with beaming smiles and so much love for the soon to be Mr & Mrs ~followed by the gorgeous Bride & her Father whom was beaming with pride, it really was such an honour to watch & capture the ceremony. Ellen’s youngest brother did the honours with the rings and Josh’s Father read a lovely reading to everyone.

PARTY TIME! The weather was perfect & after a little mingling we set to work capturing lots of fun candids & on to the group shots and a few couples photos before the wedding breakfast & speeches.

Speech time! Four speeches as there were two best men & all of them were great with some great stories and original jokes.

How they met
We met at college 10 years ago and have been together 9 years
The Proposal
It was on a Friday evening after I just got home round work, Josh asked me to put a blindfold on and walked me into the living room. Started to play our favourite song then took the blindfold off and he was on one knee with our cockapoo Freddie who had a plaque round him saying ‘will you marry my dad’ – Ellen
Why Sopley Mill?
Fell in love with the venue the minute we saw it and it was just what we envisioned
What were your special moments/highlights of the day?
Our special moment was seeing each other for the first time and walking down the aisle, it was the most incredible feeling and that very moment made all that hard work and stress over the last 2 years completely worth every single second.
What advice would you give any other couples about planning your big day, or any tips for the day itself?
Always listen to each other, the day is for the two of you and the two of you only! Except advice but don’t feel the need to listen to it. Don’t let the little things get to you because the moment the day arrives it will all be worth it. Allow plenty of time to save to allow you to have it exactly how you could ever dream your wedding day would be!!! And enjoy every single moment of the day…everyone says it but it is the quickest day of your life and make sure you speak to all the people that have made such a big effort to be there for you both! Brides when your walking down the aisle look at all your family their smiles and love really it’s a indescribable feeling.
